Banks support mobile payments

Several major banks have made promising steps toward the future of mobile payments by supporting Zapp, a mobile payment company. The new payment method is said to replace the need for multiple digital wallets, long card numbers, new passwords and usernames to remember.

HSBC, First direct, Nationwide, Santander and Metro Bank will offer Zapp mobile payments to their customers, which is said to add value to both the consumers and the economy.

Amazon shares ambitious technology news

In a bid to access more customer data and associate itself with physical stores, Amazon.com Inc. has announced plans to move its Kindle tablets in store. The tablets will be used as a type of check-out system at brick-and-mortar retail stores and are expected to be in high streets this summer 2014.

A retailers’ guide to being prepared for m-commerce

Smartphone penetration in the UK has reached 48.4% of the population, according to the European Travel Commission’s New Media Trend Watch.

Christmas online retail spend to hit record level

With the help of mobile devices, online retail spend figures will hit a record number of an estimated £10bn in December this year.

According to analysis carried out on the IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index, as well as going over the £10bn mark for the first time ever, the new findings also show that during the November and December period of 2013, consumer online retail spend will reach a total of £20.4bn.
