Mobile Epos (MPoS) brings many of the benefits of EPoS into environments where it would otherwise be impractical to have an EPoS system. MPoS retains many of the benefits of EPoS while providing a solution that adapts to it's environment.
MPoS Payment Processing
MPoS terminals can be used in temporary sales envirnoments (e.g. exhibitions) to transact with clients. For delivery focussed businesses MPoS allows the business to perform face to face credit card transactions. Reducing fraud for the merchant and also making clients feel more comfortable (some people still don't like using their cards over the phone/internet). It reduces the risks associated with dealing with cash, means that delivery drivers don't need to carry cash for change and protects business owners from wastage.
MPoS offers time saving in other environments. Forward thinking businesses like Wagamama use hand held terminals to route orders straight to the kitchen, removing the need to re-enter customer order into an EPoS terminal.
MPoS will likely see explosive growth in the next 10 years as we begin to increase use of these terminals. The ability to suddenly increase the transactional capacity of a business with only a member of staff and a small handheld terminal will result in many interesting and currently unimagined uses. For example, consider a Saturday night at the cinema - the cinema can't install extra EPoS terminals just to cope with this peak demand - yet they could easily equip staff with some MPoS terminals and let them issue tickets to customers in the queue. This is a fairly simple use of technology to solve an existing problem, MPoS provides scope for many hitherto unimagined solutions.
