The GLH Hotels Management Group has introduced an ‘out of home’ digital technology solution to its Guoman and Thistle hotel chains.

Corporate and leisure guests will use the service to access the internet and social media, and personal digital and Microsoft Office files as well as for printing requirements. GLH Hotels Management Group expects the tool to be particularly useful to guests’ for work based presentations, boarding passes, rail and theatre tickets.

The roll out programme was designed to encompass the individual needs of each hotel while meeting with guests’ needs for a quiet place to work or relaxing social environment. Tom Quarry, Managing Director at Protouch, the solution provider, comments: “GLH group identified a requirement for hotel guests to be able to have a greater technology access beyond the typical wifi connectivity, which would allow the ability to perform both work and leisure technology based activities.  Selection was based strongly on using a robust, yet tried and tested solution that also offered a sleek finish”.

Protouch provided the hardware, kiosk software and a support service that monitors the entire network in real-time, 24/7, 365 days per year. The pro-active software gives visibility of use to help improve usage and point of positioning in the hotel environment, it also alerts management as to when assistance is needed for example to top-up paper or if there is a power outage.
